Foodies in Madrid - Best bites (& sips). Plus why do you listen to When in Spain? | Episode 68

Updated: Sep 16, 2020

Listen to the episode in the player below or on your favourite podcast app.

A round-up of some of my favourite food and drink episodes from last year. Ñam!

Also, in the name of supporting small, independent businesses during Covid-19, check out these guys' websites below.

I sample some beautiful Jamón Ibérico with food guide Margit Sperling from Walk and Eat Spain. (Why not buy a tour voucher for your next trip! Also check out Margit´s Instagram videos and watch her cook delicious food in her own kitchen ).

Then I quaff wine and explore the world of Spanish vino with Luke Darracott and Roque Madrid from Madrid & Darracott. (These guys are still selling their wonderful wine and offering home delivery across Spain. Also check out their Instagram wine tastings too)

From grape to grain with a stop-off at La Osita bar where I chat with owners and brewers David and Patrick about their own Madrid brewed craft beer and the craft beer scene in Spain. (These guys are also delivering their (and other) craft beer to your door. For each purchase they´ll also donate €10 to the charity Fundación Raíces as part of the Craft Contra Covid campaign.)

From there I pay a visit to some nuns, even though I can´t see them, to buy some biscuits through a secret door at the Carboneras Church and Convent.

Then we wrap things up chatting to Sam and Veren from Alternative Travelers about the vegan food scene in Madrid and beyond.

Also in this episode I read out some reviews and responses to the question - Why do you listen to the When in Spain podcast? Where do you listen? What´s your favourite episode?
